Stacks Foundation Year-End Update
Hey Stackers, while our time is tight supporting the ecosystem through the transition to bring Stacks Labs and the Stacks Endowment fully online, I still thought it was important to put together a little piece that’s more focused on the Stacks Foundation and how we’re approaching the next few months.

Our goal through this phase is to keep key projects running smoothly while setting up new structures for long-term sustainability. Among these projects are the highly successful Code4STX program, Stacks Ascent, an insane global event strategy, Interim grants, DeGrants, and of course supporting three active SIPs coming down the pipe.

Here’s a look at where things stand with these initiatives.
Governance Upgrades and Future Outlook
And finally, with Labs absorbing many key workflows, the Foundation will redirect time and resources to focus on Governance. We’re excited to be able to prioritize this work and have already begun researching and taking inventory on an initial wave of work. You can expect more updates in the future as these items further crystalize, but here are a few of things we’re already working on:

  1. SIP-000 updates: Based on known needs, SIP author feedback, and community input, we are fine-tuning the original SIP template/architecture so that authors have an easier time navigating the SIP process and have the latest information.
  2. Stacks Forum: We’re actively implementing improvements including needed maintenance and updates as well as user experience upgrades. We’ll continue to optimize the forum so that it’s easier to navigate, intuitive to find what you need, and serves as a crucial starting point for community members looking to learn or get involved.
  3. Improved Voting experience: The Blocksurvey team is actively working alongside the Foundation to finalize an improved community voting platform experience. This is expected to roll out in v1 form with the upcoming SIP-033 (Clarity 4) vote.
  4. Tracker Dashboards for Grants and SIPs: In an effort to make important governance information highly accessible and easy to monitor, the Foundation is working with the ZeroAuthority team to create these much-needed hubs for all active grants and SIPs.
  5. SIP author resources: Last but not least, community members and the Foundation are working on identifying and creating needed resources for SIP authors, including a SIP start to finish checklist and an automated template, to simplify the process and bring added continuity across all SIP drafts.
As Stacks Labs and the Endowment come fully online, the Foundation’s focus remains steady: uphold key projects, ensure continuity through a successful hand off of resources, and serve as stewards of governance and community voice.

We’ll continue sharing updates as these pieces take shape and as always, thank you to everyone contributing time, talent, and care to make it all happen.
