Voting is Open for SIP-033 (Clarity 4): Enabling Bitcoin Devs With New Built-in Functions
SIP-033 voting is live on an upgraded platform built in partnership with the prolific Ballot.gg/Blocksurvey team. Reach out to community@stacks.org if you experience any issues voting and look forward to continued improvements to this tool!

Hey Stackers, it’s official: voting is now open for SIP-033: Clarity 4 - High Demand New Builtins. Hopefully you’ve had a chance to read up on the proposal and the exciting upgrades it brings to Clarity. The changes introduced in SIP-033 pave the way for more efficient liquidity across the network and a faster, more scalable developer experience. These are long-requested features straight from builders, and we’re thrilled to share that only a few steps remain before “Clarity 4” goes live.
Already know the SIP and ready to go straight to voting?
This SIP also includes a technical rider, SIP-034. This introduces a new variant of the tenure-change control transaction, allowing it to specify which dimension of the block budget should be reset. It will activate only with CAB approval and the passing of SIP-033.

In this post, we’ll cover the usual ins and outs of voting, along with an exciting update about the new and improved voting platform. We’re grateful to have once again partnered with ecosystem builders — Wilson and the team at Ballot — to launch this upgraded platform for an important community vote.
Quick info:
Vote window: October 16 – October 30, 2025
Block height: ~919,335 through ~921,445
Vote Overview and Info
As these proposed upgrades are consensus breaking, they require a community vote to take effect. To pass, SIP-033 requires that “yes” votes meet certain governance thresholds:
  • At least 80 million stacked STX must be allocated to voting
  • At least 80% of all stacked STX must be in favor of the proposal
This time around, there will be more visibility into vote results (more on that below!), so you can track progress towards the outcome. If approved, SIP-033 will move to the activation phase along with SIP-033-A (technical rider) if the latter is approved by tech CABs.
Meet the New Voting Platform
Previously, SIP voting took place on stx.eco, a platform built and managed by members of the community. This tool served the ecosystem well as a reliable foundation for early governance and helped us immensely in discovering the ways we could make voting easier. We’re excited to partner with Ballot.gg (aka Blocksurvey) for this SIP-033 (and possibly beyond!) to bring you a new vote experience.
This upgraded platform introduces a clean interface and new features designed to make all types of Stacker participation more intuitive and clear.

What’s new
  • Vote visibility: See real-time results from those casting directly on Ballot and those voting via STX dust. Voters using the BTC method should expect it will take additional time to appear in the results.
  • More context: Each SIP page now includes key proposal details, voting thresholds, and direct links to learn more.
  • Simplified flow: Connect your wallet and cast your vote in under a minute.

Big thanks to the Ballot team (the Stacks team behind Blocksurvey) team for their hard work on this release! This new platform sets the stage for future governance improvements, all part of ongoing efforts to enhance community voice and participation across the ecosystem.

Note: this is an early version of this tool and we expect to continue to refine the experience and make adjustments along the way. Get in touch via email if you have ideas or feedback on the new platform: community@stacks.org.
