Stacks Foundation Projects and Objectives: Q3 2021

Stackers, I'd like to share the work we've laid out and begun sprinting on for Q3. We're committed to operating transparently and communicating our intentions publicly. We believe that if we each share early and often, and others do too, the ecosystem will be able to better self-organize as we pursue our shared mission of building a user-owned internet.
To that end, we recently covered how the team here at the Stacks Foundation performed against our set objectives for last quarter. TL;DR, we're really happy with the results, proud of the team, and very grateful for all of your contributions. We also published 'What The Stacks Foundation Focuses on and Why', which provides deep context on how we approach and prioritize work.
Now, let's look ahead! In terms of themes for the rest of the quarter, we’re heavily focused on Clarity usage & education, expanding governance efforts, and growing the global community of Stacks builders & token holders.
To that end, we recently covered how the team here at the Stacks Foundation performed against our set objectives for last quarter. Now, let's look ahead! In terms of themes for the rest of the quarter, we’re heavily focused on Clarity usage & education, expanding governance efforts, and growing the global community of Stacks builders & token holders.
Q3 Objectives, Measurables, and Projects
In anticipation of sharing these OKRs broadly, we adjusted the format from last quarter hoping to simplify it for better understanding beyond our team. We kept the metrics we're focused on to a few key ones under each objective, opting to capture other important related work in the 'project/deliverable section'.

⚡ Accelerate broader adoption of core Stacks technology
Key Projects & Deliverables
Key measurable results:
- 300 unique repositories on GitHub that contain at least one .clar file
- 300 smart contracts deployed on mainnet
- Train 150 new developers in the Clarity Smart contract language
- Support the filling of 10 full-time Clarity jobs by EOQ
- Increase new developer contributions to core Stacks repos by 25%
Establish Clarity legitimacy
+ Initial research for Stacks Token Launchpad
- Enable language support for Clarity on GitHub.
- Onboard at least one external Clarity smart contract auditor.
- Publish a fully interactive Clarity course.
- Clarinet is available on all popular package managers, at least one per major operating system.(For example: Homebrew, MacPorts, Winget, APT.)
- At least one external party is teaching the Clarity Universe course.
- Identify a Clarity instructor/evangelist for every Stacks Chapter
- Establish 5 core instructors with track record teaching Clarity.
- Deliver on an amazing end to end tooling experience: fully functioning IDE plugin, testing suite, and deploying to mainnet, testnet, and mocknet.
- Create clarity for the community and the general public about upcoming features and technical improvements on the Stacks Blockchain
- Document at least 95% of Stacks entities and their key objectives/responsibilities and publish in a public forum

Grants:
- Develop a streamlined process for processing grant leads, supporting grantees through their milestones, and recognizing grantee work upon completion
- Secure 2 grant program partnerships that serve to bolster the grantee pipeline
- Hire a full-time Grants Program Manager
- Work with Comms Lead to launch weekly grant content
- Put together a landing page/"starter kit" for all current and prospective community builders, including better information on accepting STX
- Ship key improvements to the Stacks Grant payment flow
- Explore different payment structures to maximize grantee take-home

- Technical CAB approves at least one SIP (e.g. Stacks DID SIP, a 2.1-series SIP)
- Ethics CAB approves the CoC
- Establish a more hands-off approach/process for advising Stacks Chapter Leads
- Train up current leads to become mentors for incoming leads
- Group check-ins, more work in public (e.g. Discord channel)
- Publish a Stacks Governance roadmap
- Confirm a representative and process for the Community Board Seat
- Launch a research initiative to support key areas of ecosystem development including (Governance, Stacking research, crypto business models on Stacks)
- Move Stacks Advocates Server and pool efforts to public Stacks server
- Diversify the Stacks Foundation treasury by leveraging expert advice to ensure long-term sustainability of funds that are available to work for the community’s future efforts and interests

- Establish at-least two new distribution channels to help builders successfully introduce their products or services to the mass market.
- Create shareable ecosystem map to visualize current Stacks infrastructure, integrations, applications, partnerships and funding.
- Finalize H2 2021 events strategy, plan series of high quality, in-person and virtual community meetups/hackathons/summits.
- Explore Stacks-related content aggregator that automatically captures best news and articles from the ecosystem
