DevOps Engineer
We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to lead our efforts to make the Stacks blockchain and accompanying tooling increasingly robust, easy to build on, and transparent.
We’re on a mission to support a user-owned internet where users can own and retain the value they create. The Stacks Foundation is a leader within the Stacks Ecosystem; a collection of independent entities, developers, and community members working to create a user-owned internet on Bitcoin.

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to support the partners, projects, and people seeking to build on or integrate with the Stacks blockchain. A rich network of exchanges, startups, infrastructure providers, users, traders, miners, and more need you today! Part of our mission is making the Stacks network as accessible and valuable as possible to these stakeholders — in this role you’ll be a key part of helping us accomplish this by providing top-notch integration and technical skills to ecosystem partners.

In this role, you will lead our efforts to maintain and improve core Stacks infrastructure and the experience of our many builders. You’ll play a key role in supporting exchanges, partners, and other entities that have integrated the Stacks blockchain. You’ll also have the opportunity to define testing protocols for Stacks Foundation-owned software, work on new software we’re building to make Stacks development ever more powerful, and help the community better understand the state of the network by enabling easy access to key data.

In short, you’ll help us make the Stacks network more robust and increasingly easy for builders to innovate on.
What you'll do
  • Work directly with Stacks builders and ecosystem partners to ensure their integration is healthy and optimal.
  • Be the first and main point of contact for any network(or other software) related emergencies, urgent issues, and triaging/debugging.
  • Enable better understanding of the Stacks network by creating processes and software that surfaces key data and insights.
  • Ensure all Stacks Foundation run services are reliable at all times.
  • Improve the tooling and automation for building, testing and deploying software and services.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams on building / launching new products and features.
  • Improve the security and ease-of-use of the Stacks production environment.
What we're looking for
  • 7+ years experience in a DevOps or equivalent role.
  • Proficiency with Docker / containers, Linux, scripting & automation.
  • Experience deploying, scaling, and troubleshooting production services.
  • Experience using Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
  • An interest and/or exposure to infrastructure and application security.
  • Familiarity with running blockchain software(Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc).
  • Worked with software in the Kubernetes/CNCF ecosystem.
  • Experience with multiple technology stacks for configuration, monitoring, logging, alerting, CI/CD, application runtimes(Python, Node, Rust).
  • Experience with some databases(e.g. Postgres) and storage systems(e.g. NFS, elasticsearch).
What we offer
  • Competitive Salary (regardless of location, benchmarked against NYC)
  • $500/month co-working space reimbursement
  • $1,200/yr budget for learning and development stipend
  • Unlimited Vacation Policy
  • Health and dependent care (FSA)
  • Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave
  • 401k with 3% match
  • Your choice of technical setup and equipment
